Approach
There are many approaches to psychotherapy--also known as talk therapy. Every client is unique, and this informs how we will work together. My approach, while eclectic, is primarily rooted in contemporary psychoanalytic psychodynamic theory. I use this approach because of its potential for deeper growth and lasting changes.
Psychoanalysis understands that our feelings, motives, and decisions are powerfully influenced by our past experiences. These experiences greatly shape us and contribute to our way of being in the present. Understanding the connections between past experiences and the challenges we may be encountering now can lead to resolving emotional difficulties and to meaningful change for the better.
I am also trained in cognitive behavioral techniques and mindfulness practices and able to integrate this into our work.
